Have a Best Social Impact!

We’ve got mail!

Have a Good One!, mine and my partner’s submission to Game Jam+ 2020 made it to the World Final stage and was awarded the “Best Social Impact” award!

One of the biggest drivers of my making games is to create narratives that explore diversity in an ubiquitous manner — to normalize it in such a way that it is front and center and yet also the backdrop to the narrative itself — it’s not essential to the story, it just exists. I believe this is the best way to include diversity in stories that can resonate to a wider audience, and thus (attempt to) shape the world and culture towards something that matches my worldview.

The simple story of Have a Good One! is one that celebrates the connection between people, the hope of keeping love alive, the kindness in helping others, and the essential work that is the postal service, especially in the context of a pandemic in which we still live now, where people stay at home and depend on the work of others to maintain connection with their loved ones and the small happiness of receiving a package you’ve been waiting for.

It is a great honor to be recognized in something that I believe in and strive for, and makes me glad that such a simple game made in 24h (the other 24h were spent on a very hard idea birthing process 😅), could make an impact on others!

My partner and I thank all the people organizing Game Jam+, for hosting the game jam and voting on our game throughout all the country, Europe, and World stages.

Thanks, and have a good one!
